Should 2023 see the release of an Apple Watch Ultra 2?

Along with the Apple Watch Series 8 last September, Apple also introduced the dramatically different Apple Watch Ultra. Like with iPhones, Apple has a fall release schedule for new watch models. However, it's unclear whether we can anticipate an Apple Watch Ultra 2 in 2023.

Without having to touch the Ultra line, Apple Watch Series 9 may simply improve one or two aspects of the Series line. In many ways, Apple Watch Ultra already outperforms Apple Watch Series 8.

A programmable Action button, a brighter display, a longer battery life, and stronger microphones are all features of the Ultra line. The battery life of the more compact, sexier Series line won't match that of the existing Ultra line for several generations.

A dark colour option is one fantastic enhancement that could be made to the Apple Watch Ultra without really changing the hardware.

Numerous finish and material variations are one of the Series line's distinguishing characteristics. Although Apple has previously provided light and dark titanium coatings, titanium is essential to the Ultra line's durability and weight.

A darker Apple Watch Ultra would not only look good and add diversity. Additionally, it would provide the appearance of display bezels that are thinner. One of the design restrictions for the Ultra series as opposed to the Series line is bezel thickness.

A year-over-year design change like that sounds fairly radical based on Apple's past design trends, even though cutting down the bezels on the Ultra line is always a possibility.

Processing power is not one of the major changes between the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra. The Apple Watch Ultra actually has the same chronograph as the Series 6 and Series 7 watches. That was the last time Apple gave the Apple Watch a speed increase.
